A Pretty Primitive Winter by Karen Stone is a fun book of primitive projects of Snowmen, Santas and angels. These are wonderful projects for the Christmas craft show, and they make terrific gifts for family and friends. Karen combines painting with fabric, buttons, wire, yarn raffia and more to make these projects whimsical and oh so fun. So get out your brushes and get busy.
Ho ho ho, let’s start with the Santa projects.
Pictured to the right is the We Love Santa wall hanging. Isn’t he adorable with his string beard and hair? He holds a garland decorated with a wooden stocking, gingerbread cookie, star, candy cane, heart and pine tree. He would be great on your front door and a best seller at your next craft show! Next is the All-Star Santa – he’s a cute little guy holding a tree with a big star behind him. The Welcome Santa sign has a simple Santa face on one end, the background in ivory with green checks and the words welcome Santa is painted in black. The final Santa project is the “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” wreath. Santa is a doll you buy already stuffed, and you paint him!! Add the embellishments of woolly hair, fabric bows, buttons and cuffs, and you have a great door decoration.
Karen has designed a big bunch of snowmen for all collectors.
They are all so fun and cute and oh so simple!!! First is the Snowman Basket. It has a painted snowman doll sitting in a twig basket. He is surrounded by a warm fabric scarf and hat. He stands next to a little gardening shovel and behind a wooden picket fence. On the fence is a tiny sign that reads – welcome snow. Snowballs Sold Here is a snowman with black boots and a black top hat, and he holds a sign that reads – snowballs sold here. Under the sign hangs a pine garland with 3-dimensional snowballs on it. There are also the following snowman projects – Feed the Birds sign, Frosty is My Friend doll with sign, Snowman Collector wooden sign, Mr Frosty wall hanging, Keep Warm snowman doll and Frost Friends – doll holding snowman and birdhouse.
Karen designs the cutest dolls and angels, and you will also find a few of them in this book.
Christmas Joy is a new sewn wooden doll with dark curly hair and a cute gingham fabric dress. The Cookie Angel wall hanging has a gingerbread angel with checkered wings, a fabric bow and a lace collar. She is holding a sign that reads – cookie angel, and it has a little gingerbread cookie and a wooden rolling pin painted on it. What a great grandma’s gift this would be!!! Finally, there is the Christmas Blessings Angel wall hanging. The has brown curly hair and little stars painted on her wings. She is very simple but so cute to look at.
This book is wonderful for primitive painters, craft show merchants, beginners and teachers.
You will learn basic antiquing techniques and another simple crafting as well. You get to paint and craft with every one of these projects!!! Please e-mail Karen with questions, and look at her pattern packets for sale on her website, Pretty Primitives.
