Here is a book for all you craft show sellers. Pretty Primitives by Karen Stone is filled with fun, easy projects that are sure to be great money-makers for you. And, if you’re not a craft show merchant, just sit back and paint some cheery projects for yourself. Karen’s designs are in the primitive style, so there are minimal details in the painting, and simplistically cute details are done with fabrics, laces, buttons, wire and more.
Everyone enjoys the simple things in life once in a while, and you will enjoy painting Karen’s designs.
Pictured to the right is the Angels Gather Here wall hanging. She would make a wonderful gift or look cute hanging on a wall. Her yarn hair and fabric bow add dimension and texture and add to this piece’s notion. These same touches are throughout the entire book. If you like dolls and little girl projects, you will enjoy painting and crafting the No-Sew Sylvia wreath, Country Welcome wooden heart wall hanging, and My Heart Belongs to Andy (raggedy Ann doll). I love her red rick-rack hair!!! There is also the Just Pray It wooden angel and the really sweet Teddy Collector doll. She is cute with her yarn hair, fabric bows and three wooden teddy bears. She is designed to sit on a shelf or bookcase, and I’m sure a little girl who collects teddy bears would love to have her in her room.
Karen has designed some fun Christmas and winter projects too.
Believe – is a Santa Claus piece. He has jointed arms and legs, holds a wreath, and has a great woolly beard. Be sure not to forget to put on his wire glasses and dimensional stars. He has antiqued ribbed socks on and fabric bows on his shoes. Next is a cute snowman angel in the project Keep Your Heart Warm. He has pink cheeks, checkered wings, wired-on boots, a warm red sweater and a plaid scarf around his neck. He would be adorable hanging on your front door to welcome visitors to your home. Be sure to paint the Country Blessings sign; it has a star, heart, gingerbread man and folk art angel hanging from it.
If you love gingerbread, you may like the Gingerbread Sweatshirt.
It is so cute and simple; they will fly out the door at your next craft show. It is an easy project and very sweet. To accompany the sweatshirt, paint Ms Ginger for your home. She is dressed in a brown gingham dress; she has a lace collar on her dress and a matching bow on her head.
There are many more projects here as well.
I recommend this book to beginners, craft show merchants, and teachers. These projects are great for learning basic antiquing techniques, staining, tea dying and embellishing your work with accessories. If you have any questions, please e-mail Karen – she is a very nice person!!!
